New jersey tax
- - Paid for federal filing with Free Tax USA; return pending.
- - NJ state filing not e-filed due to unresolved federal status.
I had spoken to someone about releasing the new jersey tax that was filed. Originally my federal income tax was taken care of.
I received notification from IRS about owing taxes and I manually sent them a copy of the federal income tax and what I owed was paid, the status of the federal income tax is still pending waiting to be file this was never released.
This also result for filing status of the state tax not to be e-filed. I did pay for the filing of the federal tax to Free Tax USA.

Sudden withdrawal from my bank
I filed taxes and paid all fees at time of service and now they suddenly took out money from my bank. No way to speak to anyone

Misleading
I went into the site to file a 2020 tax return, filled in all information, paid $17.99, deducted from my bank account directly. Only after I paid, the site said I could not e-file the return.
I needed to use a paper return. No phone number to call nor a chat.
I feel they scammed me. Ty

Didn't get no paper s on my 2025 tax year and didn't get a reason why I didn't get a refund
- - No paperwork for the 2025 tax year, and no notice of amount owed or refund.
- - No follow-up on the online filing; the client wants to be contacted.
Did not get any paperwork on my 2025 tax year and never received anything saying if I owed or if I was getting a refund. My son filed on your tax site for me, but I never got told anything.
Not very happy with this now because I don't know if I owe or not.

My Utah State was not filed by you after I paid for it on 01/26/2026
I called the Utah State Tax Commission today and was told my taxes for 2025 were not filed, and that is the reason I haven't received my tax refund. I paid for this on 01/26/2026.

Resolved: Software glitch
- - Identification shows a last name I did not enter.
- - I can't reach the company by phone and had to message; response time unknown.
no refund was needed the mistake was on my part and was with their help taken care of. Just pay attention and contact them for any issues.
I am trying to submit my taxes, and when I get to the part where I enter my identification, it has a totally different last name entered. I did not enter this name and have no idea where it came from.
I even went back to my personal page, and that information is entered correctly.
I have no idea how to fix this issue and cannot reach the company by phone; I just had to send a message that I don't have any idea how long it will take them to respond. I also don't consider it fair for them to ask me to pay for quick support for an issue I did not create.

Resolved: Have tried several times to logon, even created new accout. Still not able to logon to start 2025 return.

i FILED WITH FREE TAX USA AND IT WAS ":ACCEPTED." I WAS TOLD I WOULD GET A REFUND - IT NEVER CAME AFTER A MONTH. WHEN I CONTACTED THE IRS THEY DID NOT EVEN RECOGNIZE MY SSN.

Can't log in
- - Cannot log in to FreeTaxUSA; 'An error occurred' message persists.
- - Recovery attempts and new accounts failed; I started filing but may switch.
I've used this company for my taxes for several different years. I know I have at least one account from 2025 that I used to do my taxes.
The trouble is, I can't log in. I've tried on at least four different days this year to log in. I got into my account once and started to file my taxes, but had to pause to find certain paperwork. Now I can't log in no matter what I try; I just get an error message saying to try again.
I've tried last year's password, a new password I might have used if I was asked to update it (I don't remember if I did, but just checking). I've tried to use the account recovery options, and I even just tried to make a new account with my second email.
All of this just keeps resulting in the same 'An error occurred, please try again' message that doesn't tell me what's wrong, how to fix it, whose fault it is, or who to contact to continue my taxes. I'm generously still giving FreeTaxUSA a 2 out of 5 because in previous years I never had any problems and loved this service for being simple and fast, but I'm very disappointed with my 2026 attempt at filing, and it looks like I'll have to use a different service even though I already started filing for this year on this site.

Don't Pay Extra for Support
ID.me decided to flag my return and these people are nowhere to be found. I have done ALL of the things that I paid for them to do. 258 days and still no refund.
